Zion Avenue is one of the major thoroughfares in the Allied Gardens and Grantville communities. First constructed in the 1950's, the roadway connects residential Allied Gardens to shopping, dining, entertainment and transit along the Mission Gorge/Friars Road corridor.
The AGGCC and the SDRUFC are collaborating with the City of San Diego to plant trees along the Zion Avenue corridor. AGGCC and SDRUFC members have been collecting tree permit applications from residents along Zion Avenue and are planning an Arbor Day event in the near future when all of the trees will be planted to help transform and improve our community.
Trees improve property values. The addition of trees and shrubs can increase property values 10 - 20%. Mature trees improve our aesthetic environment, absorb noise, calm traffic and reduce stress and crime. Urban neighborhoods with trees can be up to 11 degrees cooler in the summer heat.
Please check the webpage for additional information including suggestions for trees that would do well in our neighborhood, links to the permit application, and contact information if you have additional questions: http://sdrufc.com/zion/
