The next Allied Gardens/Grantville Community Council (AGGCC) Town Hall Meeting will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Benjamin Library at the corner of Zion Avenue and Glenroy Street in Allied Gardens.
Our speaker at our March 27, 2018 Town Hall Meeting will be State Senator Toni Aktins. Senator Atkins has a long and honored history of representing San Diegans and their interests. She began as a staff member of Councilperson Christine Kehoe, was elected to a seat on the San Diego City Council, then became a member of the State Assembly where she presided as Speaker, and, most recently, she became a member of the State Senate where she serves as the President Pro Tempore. She is a dynamic speaker who addresses her audiences on a broad range of topics and who does not shy from controversy. We have let her know that we plan to challenge her on some of the hot issues of the day. It should prove to be a most interesting session. The By Laws of the AGGCC state, “The purpose of the AGCC is to work toward the betterment of the Allied Gardens/Grantville Area and to advise the Navajo Community Planners, Inc. (NCPI) and the San Diego City governmental agencies in the initial preparation of, adoption of, implementation of or amendment to the General Plan as it pertains to the Allied Gardens Grantville Area of the City of San Diego.” The Community Council does not have a formal governmental relationship with the City. But we are in almost constant contact with our Councilmember and we are recognized by both the Councilmember and the NCPI as the voice of the community. The AGGCC Board of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of each month at a new meeting location and time: Allied Gardens Benjamin Library at 6:30 p.m. The library is at 5188 Zion Avenue, at the corner of Zion Avenue and Glenroy Street. Our next Board meeting will be on April 2, 2018. You can support the AGGCC by subscribing to or advertising in the Newsletter, attending our Town Hall Meetings and giving your ideas about what the community most needs, or becoming a member of the Board of Directors. We have changed the dates, time, and location of the Allied Garden/Grantville Community Council (AGGCC) Board meetings and Town Hall Meetings.
Hereafter our Council Board meetings will be held at the Allied Gardens Benjamin Library on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are mostly meetings for the Board but the public is welcome. Our first Board meeting at this new location will be on January 2, 2018. Hereafter our Town Hall Meetings will be held at the Allied Gardens Benjamin Library on the fourth Tuesday of each odd numbered month beginning at 6:30 p.m. Our first Town Hall Meeting at this location will be on January 23, 2018. We welcome attendance by and presentations from the Police Department, the Fire Department, our Librarian, and representatives of our elected officials at the beginning of the Meetings.
